The increased incidence of burnout is gaining awareness in society and within the profession of occupational therapy. This presentation will assist attendees to increase awareness regarding burnout, identify the signs and symptoms, and take a preventative approach with evidence- based strategies. After the completion of this course, students will:
Identify the three characteristics of burnout including how they may manifest in occupational therapy practitioners
Explain how the principles of effective communication and relationship building are methods to prevent burnout for an occupational therapy practitioner
