This course introduces occupational therapy practitioners to the foundational concepts of pelvic floor function and its relevance across multiple practice settings. Participants will explore the occupational impact of pelvic floor dysfunction, learn screening and intervention strategies appropriate within OT scope, and gain confidence in addressing sensitive topics like incontinence, pelvic pain, and toileting with clients. Designed for OTs and OTAs in all settings, this course equips attendees with practical tools to integrate pelvic health awareness into everyday practice—empowering therapists to restore dignity, function, and participation for their clients.

Learning objectives
After completion of this occupational therapy continuing education course, participants will be able to:
  • Describe the role of the pelvic floor in occupational performance and daily activities.
  • Identify key signs and symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction that are relevant for screening and referral.
  • Apply at least three evidence-based, non-internal OT interventions to support pelvic floor health across various settings.
  • Recognize the psychosocial and functional impacts of pelvic health conditions on participation and quality of life.
  • Advocate for the inclusion of pelvic health principles within traditional and emerging OT practice areas

Heather Holland, MS, OTR/L, UDN-C
GOTA Guest Instructor

​​Heather Holland is a licensed occupational therapist with eight years of experience across diverse clinical settings, including skilled nursing facilities, inpatient rehabilitation, and outpatient care. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from The University of Alabama in 2015, followed by a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from Alabama State
University in 2017. Heather is deeply passionate about women’s health and the growing role of occupational therapy in pelvic floor rehabilitation. She recently became certified in dry needling with a specialized focus on pelvic floor conditions and is actively pursuing advanced certification in pelvic floor therapy through Herman & Wallace. Her clinical practice is rooted in a holistic, occupation-based approach to restoring function and dignity for individuals experiencing pelvic health challenges. Currently, Heather is employed through North Mississippi Health Services, where she works collaboratively under a urogynecologist to support patients in their journey toward improved pelvic function and quality of life. Her mission is to educate and empower fellow therapists to explore this emerging and impactful specialty within occupational therapy.

In order to receive the certificate of completion, participants must meet ALL of the following criteria:
  • Complete GOTA membership verification for course enrollment
  • Attend the live webinar for the full duration
  • Complete the Attendance Attestation exam with a 100% score
  • Complete the content exam with an 80% score
Please note that no credit or certificate will be issued unless all criteria is met.  Partial credit will not be issued.  
cancellation policy
Live Courses and Webinars
Learner cancellations: In the event that the learner requests to cancel or is unable to attend a course, a refund for the total paid for the course will be granted if Aspire OT is notified via email at info@aspireot.us within 10 business days prior to date of the scheduled course, minus a non-refundable registration fee of 25% of registration price.  If the learner provides notification of cancellation less then 10 business days prior to the scheduled course, the learner will be offered the opportunity to attend the same webinar on an alternate date or enrollment in the recorded on-demand version of that webinar, instead of a refund.  

No refunds will be issued after a course has been attended for more than 30 minutes.  Partial credit will not be issued.  

Provider cancellations: 
In the event of inclement weather or other event resulting in the inability for a live course to be provided within the scheduled time, learners will be offered an alternate date or a full refund for registration paid.
On-Demand web Courses 
Web courses will remain available to learners for 1 year. No refunds will be available for web courses that have been attended or viewed for greater than 30 minutes. In the event of a refund, the learner will be unenrolled in the course immediately upon issuance of a refund. No refunds will be issued for any course in which a certificate has been issued.
