This presentation will provide occupational therapy practitioners an overview of home modification strategies to enhance child development and engagement with family and environment while preserving the functionality of the home for all members. However, the literature is limited that addresses the home modification role of occupational therapy for children and youth which represents an emerging niche for practitioners. CAPABLE, while this program addresses collaboration with the handyman, and Home For Life, a documentation system, both are geared towards the aging population, they do not take into account the activities unique to children and youth, but serve to provide a framework for interventions.
