Brand New Webinar

Future offerings will be made available for individual purchase as well as included in the Just for OT subscription.

This webinar will be held on Zoom.

Occupational therapy practitioners work with individuals with neurological conditions across a variety of practice settings, making a foundational understanding of common diagnoses and their associated impairments essential to effective clinical practice. Whether working in acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing, home health, outpatient rehabilitation, or community-based settings, practitioners must recognize how neurological conditions influence occupational performance and participation.  Participants will explore the differences between upper and lower motor neuron disorders and how these distinctions influence clinical presentation and occupational therapy intervention planning.

This introductory course provides an overview of the neurological diagnoses most commonly encountered in occupational therapy practice, including cerebrovascular accident (CVA), traumatic brain injury (TBI), multiple sclerosis (MS), amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Parkinson's disease, Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS), and chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP).

This course is designed to build a strong neurological foundation that will prepare participants for the second course in this series, Neurology Rehab for General OT Practice: Evaluation and Treatment, which focuses on assessment selection, intervention strategies, and clinical application through case studies.

Target Audience: Occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, occupational therapy students

This occupational therapy continuing education course uses the following instructional methods: visual aides (ie slides), discussion board, guided note taking, and learning, and practice opportunities.

Content disclosure: This course does not exclusively focus on any specific product or service.
