There are an estimated 4.1 million post-9/11 veterans according to the most recent United States Census Bureau data. Each one of these veterans went through a transition period where they moved from military service back into the civilian environment. These transitions require changes in roles, the need to employ diverse life skills, job search strategies, family dynamics shifts and a host of other issues to navigate through this next mission. Occupational Therapy Professionals (OTPs) can expertly support veterans during this stressful and frequently disruptive time through community reintegration and the facilitation of occupational participation. This course will introduce OTPs to the components of military transitions and ways OT can be a force multiplier for success.
Target Audience: Occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, occupational therapy students
