AOTA & NBCOT Joint Initiative: Occupational Therapy Licensure Compact
Self-paced Online Course
$30 | 1 Contact Hour
The American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) and the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) are collaborating in a joint initiative to create the Occupational Therapy Licensure Compact. Work on this endeavor began in the summer of 2019, as the Council of State Governments was contracted by AOTA to assist with the development of the compact. Since that time, an Advisory Group and Drafting Team were created, and their collective work has recently been completed. This presentation will provide a summary of the roles and functions of these working teams, as well as a review of the compact development process and anticipated implementation timelines. This session will also outline the history, purpose, costs, and benefits of licensure compacts; address the advocacy needed to establish a compact; and identify means for state occupational therapy regulatory boards/committees to be involved.
Target Audience: Occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, occupational therapy students.
