Trauma and adverse childhood experiences have life-long affects on the individual’s emotional, behavioral, and physical health both in the moment and for the rest of their lives. It is imperative for occupational therapists to implement trauma-informed care principles to support recovery and outcomes across practice settings as trauma can impact recovery in all areas of an individual’s life. This presentation will outline trauma-informed care principles, apply the principles across practice settings, and attendees will participate in discussion to increase the practitioner’s awareness of being trauma-informed.

Target Audience: Occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, occupational therapy students
