In this presentation, participants will gain a well rounded understanding of the mechanism of spinal cord injury and the potential complications involved. The levels of injury and expectations for functional outcomes will be discussed at length. We will also review therapeutic interventions that can be implemented with this population as well as discussion of adaptive equipment and current technology.

Target Audience: Occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, occupational therapy students

After this occupational therapy continuing education course, the learner will be able to:
  • develop a greater understanding of the spinal cord and spinal cord injuries
  • demonstrate ability to anticipate functional expectations dependent on level of injury

  • discuss therapeutic interventions and types of adaptive equipment for spinal cord patients

In order to receive the certificate of completion, participants must meet ALL of the following criteria:

  • Pass the course exam with a score of 80% or greater
Please note that no credit or certificate will be issued unless all criteria is met.  Partial credit will not be issued.
