Collaboration and building improved interprofessional relationships is a key element within the field of Occupational Therapy. One of these relationships embodies the relationship between an OT and OTA. In this webinar, supervision of an occupational therapy assistant in TN will be reviewed prior to an open discussion panel for all practitioners including occupational therapy students about advancing and promoting successful collaboration between OTs and OTAs. Topics to be discussed include Tips on Building a Relationship, Methods and Strategies using evidence-based models to
improve collaboration between OTs and OTAs and exploring/reviewing current and future ideas within educational programs to support collaboration between OT practitioners.

Learning objectives
After completion of this occupational therapy continuing education course, participants will be able to:
  • Review current Tennessee state regulations and guidelines for supervision between OT’s and OTAs.
  • Collaborate in an open panel discussion about methods and strategies to promote successful collaboration between OT’s and OTAs.
  • Explore current and future ideas within OT educational programs to support collaboration between OT practitioners.
Instructor bio
Jennifer Henderson, OTD, OTR/L, BCP

Jennifer Henderson is a registered and licensed occupational therapist. She received a BS in Occupational Therapy from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 1998, a post-professional Master of Science degree in 2019 from Mount Mary University, and her post-professional doctorate in occupational therapy, leadership track, from Mount Mary University in 2021. Jennifer is an assistant professor at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center Department of Occupational Therapy, and has practiced in various inpatient, outpatient, and home health settings, as well as owned her own practice. She holds specialty certifications in electrical stimulation and thermal agent modalities. She is a certified provider for Interactive Metronome, iLs Focus System and Safe & Sound Program, and a WINC Certified Infant Massage Instructor. Jennifer received Board Certification in Pediatrics from the American Occupational Therapy Association in 2018.


Ashley Robertson, COTA/L, C-AAT, CAIP
TNOTA Guest Instructor

Ashley Robertson, COTA/L, C-AAT, CAIP is a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant who is the current Chair of TNOTA Connect Group since September 2023. Ashley graduated from Bloomsburg University in 2005 with a B.S. in Exercise Science and Penn State Berks in 2015 with an Associate Degree in Occupational Therapy. She has been a COTA/L at Southern Pediatric Therapy in Hernando, MS since September 2021 with specialty certifications in Pediatric Kinesiology Taping (December 2021), has a certificate in Animal-Assisted Therapy (September 2023), is trained in Handwriting without Tears, is a Certified Anxiety Informed Professional (March 2024), and is trained as an AEIOU Feeding Specialist. She has clinical experience in a variety of settings including SNF, Hospital, Early Intervention, Outpatient Pediatrics, and school-based occupational therapy. She recently presented and created a social media series for TNOTA on Building a Better Relationship between OTs and OTAs in March 2024.


Piper Sesan, OTD, OTR/L
TNOTA Guest Instructor

Piper Sesan, OTD, OTR/L graduated from Belmont University in 2003 with a clinical doctorate. She has experience in adult rehab settings and was FW supervisor throughout her clinical career. She has been an assistant professor at Nashville State since 2019 beginning as Director in 2019. She is on Nashville State Faculty Senate, promotion committee, and a fellow in the teaching center. On TNOTA, she is on the CEU committee and collaboration committee.

In order to receive the certificate of completion, participants must meet ALL of the following criteria:
  • Complete payment or TNOTA membership log in for course enrollment
  • Attend the live webinar for the full duration
  • Complete the Attendance Attestation exam with a 100% score
  • Pass the course exam with a score of 80% or greater
Please note that no credit or certificate will be issued unless all criteria is met.  Partial credit will not be issued.  
cancellation policy
Live Courses and Webinars
Learner cancellations: In the event that the learner requests to cancel or is unable to attend a course, a refund for the total paid for the course will be granted if Aspire OT is notified via email at info@aspireot.us within 10 business days prior to date of the scheduled course, minus a non-refundable registration fee of 25% of registration price.  If the learner provides notification of cancellation less then 10 business days prior to the scheduled course, the learner will be offered the opportunity to attend the same webinar on an alternate date or enrollment in the recorded on-demand version of that webinar, instead of a refund.  

No refunds will be issued after a course has been attended for more than 30 minutes.  Partial credit will not be issued.  

Provider cancellations: 
In the event of inclement weather or other event resulting in the inability for a live course to be provided within the scheduled time, learners will be offered an alternate date or a full refund for registration paid.
On-Demand web Courses 
Web courses will remain available to learners for 1 year. No refunds will be available for web courses that have been attended or viewed for greater than 30 minutes. In the event of a refund, the learner will be unenrolled in the course immediately upon issuance of a refund. No refunds will be issued for any course in which a certificate has been issued.
