This webinar will be held on Zoom.

This course will provide activities that require the learner to access and search the internet during the webinar.

As artificial intelligence(AI) rapidly evolves, occupational therapy practitioners are faced with new opportunities to enhance care, streamline documentation, and support teaching and program development. This interactive course introduces participants to the fundamentals of generative AI (GenAI), exploring how commonly used tools can be leveraged ethically and effectively across clinical, educational, and administrative settings.

This webinar is designed for OT s, OTAs and students at all career stages in clinical practice, academia and administration.  This course provides hands-on experience with GenAI applications through guided practice. Participants will explore how to generate AI-assisted content such as plans of care, SOAP notes, lesson plans, or policy briefs. Learners will apply critical thinking to assess tool outputs for bias, accuracy, and clinical relevance—especially as they relate to occupational therapy principles and values.

Attendees will select a case and use two GenAI tools to develop a plan of care that includes occupation-based assessments and evidence-informed interventions. Rather than prescribing specific interventions, the course emphasizes the art of crafting effective prompts to support client-centered, best-practice planning.

Throughout the course, participants will engage in discussions around the ethical use of GenAI, including privacy, regulation, and equity. By the end, learners will walk away with a stronger understanding of how to responsibly integrate generative AI into their OT workflows.

Target Audience: Occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, occupational therapy students

This occupational therapy continuing education course uses the following instructional methods: visual aides (ie slides), discussion board, guided note taking, and learning, and practice opportunities.
