Brand New Webinar
This premier offering of this webinar is being offered exclusively in the Just for OT Subscription.

Future offerings will be made available for individual purchase as well as included in the Just for OT subscription.

This webinar will be held on Zoom.

Occupational therapy practitioners(OTPs) are uniquely positioned to understand and address responsive behaviors in dementia, yet many clinicians feel unsure how to assess the underlying causes or select effective interventions. This introductory webinar highlights how core OT skills, especially activity analysis, provide a powerful framework for interpreting common dementia-related behaviors.
Participants will learn how to examine task demands, environmental factors, sensory cues, and communication patterns to uncover the “why” behind behaviors and guide person-centered intervention. The session will also explore OTP’s essential role in functional assessment, effective communication techniques, and care planning that supports safety, engagement, and dignity for individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.
Tin accordance with Illinois' dementia continuing education requirement this course addresses assessment and diagnosis, communication strategies, and management and care planning. Through practical examples and case-based reasoning, attendees will gain immediately applicable tools for enhancing outcomes across settings.

Target Audience: Occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, occupational therapy students
This occupational therapy continuing education course uses the following instructional methods: visual aides (ie slides), discussion board, guided note taking, and learning, and practice opportunities.
