For school-aged children, engagement in meaningful occupations occurs at the interplay of the student, the context, and the occupation. OT practitioners can support meaningful engagement by assessing and addressing occupational performance including sensory-motor aspects as it relates to the school environment and then creating a sensory-motor smart environment that best meets student needs for positive outcomes.
In this course, Vera Gallagher will present her perspective on how OT practitioners may asses and create Sensory-motor smart environments for students, classrooms, and buildings in the school setting.
This course is an intermediate level course that will focus on applying foundational knowledge to a case study from the presenter's perspective.
Target Audience: Occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, occupational therapy students
