This continuing education course is designed to equip occupational therapy (OT) practitioners with the knowledge and tools necessary to comprehensively address the challenges presented by Alzheimer's disease and Dementia. Focused on integrating OT principles and frameworks, this presentation empowers learners to create and implement effective treatments tailored to individuals living with dementia and their care partners.

Key Highlights:

Comprehensive Understanding of Alzheimer's and Dementia: Participants will learn more about Alzheimer's disease and Dementia, gaining insights into the latest research and developments in the field. This foundational knowledge will serve as the basis for informed and targeted interventions.

Application of OT Principles and Frameworks: The course emphasizes the integration of OT principles and frameworks into dementia care. Attendees will learn how to tailor interventions based on the unique needs and challenges faced by individuals with dementia, ensuring a holistic and person-centered approach.

Case Studies and Practical Experiences: Through real-life case studies and hands-on practical experiences, learners will develop an understanding of applying theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios. This approach enhances the ability to adapt and customize interventions to individual cases.

Evidence-Based and Occupation-Based Interventions: The course will emphasize evidence-based practices and occupation-based interventions. Current research findings will be discussed as well as how to apply it to create interventions that not only improve the quality of life for individuals with dementia but also align with the core principles of occupational therapy.

Confidence Building in Documentation: Participants will gain confidence in documenting OT services effectively. The course provides practical guidance on documenting interventions, progress, and outcomes, ensuring that OT practitioners can articulate the value and impact of their services with clarity and precision.

Advocacy for Increased Dementia Services: Empowering learners to be advocates for increased dementia services, the course highlights the importance of OT professionals playing a pivotal role in influencing policy and promoting enhanced services for individuals with dementia across all areas of practice.
