In the school setting, occupational therapy's role is to support students’ education and engagement, and education laws and regulations offer a clear framework for how occupational therapy practitioners can achieve that goal.
This course will equip occupational therapy practitioners with a deeper understanding of the laws and regulations affecting education, enabling them to take a more active role in important discussions about their students. The impact of ESSA, IDEA, ADA, and education case law on OT practice will be explored. Participants will be provided with occupation-based examples to help them apply this knowledge in their practice. Better understanding the guidelines for service provision can assist OTs, OTAs and students to incorporate occupation-based interventions throughout a student’s day.
Target Audience: Occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, occupational therapy students

What OTs and OTAs are saying about this course
I would definitely recommend this course for all school-based OT practitioners. I've attended this type of course before, but presented by a special ed attorney, never a therapist - you're perspective was invaluable and has given me a lot to think about.
Julia A, OT
The presenter was organized and knowledgeable. I believe this course is important for OTPs working in the school system. Many times therapists do not know all of the laws. Without knowing the laws it is difficult for them to advocate for their patients. It also helps for therapists to provide parents with information about the laws and what their children may be eligible for.
Marquita, OT
Moira is extremely knowledgable and communicates info effectively. Very passionate.
