This dynamic live panel discussion moderated by an occupational therapist and an occupational therapy doctoral student brings together occupational therapy practitioners to explore the evolving role of OT in addressing human trafficking. Grounded in the Occupational Therapy Practice Framework, this session will guide participants through an open dialogue on the intersection of trauma, occupation, and recovery.

Panelists will define types of trafficking and examine the occupational impact on survivors, connecting biopsychosocial deficits with trauma-informed OT intervention strategies. The discussion will feature highlights from a completed doctoral capstone projects, including topics such as sleep hygiene, pregnancy as a result of trafficking, and the development of survivor informed educational curricula for OT students and practitioners.

Through the lens of one student's journey to develop trafficking-specific education for occupational therapy, the panel will illustrate how capstone experiences can drive advocacy, clinical innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration in this emerging area of practice.
